Spring: New Beginnings

From "Faith and Fresh Perspectives: Celebrating Faith & Spirituality during the Spring Season"

Go to the project

If ever there is a year to welcome Spring, this is it! I have read that Spring represents "the symphony of new life". As we clean up our yard after the ice storm I can see the crocuses, the peonies and the perennials poking out from the cold ground. It brings so much joy and hope that the winter is finally behind us. I walk in the yard with my youngest grandchild every weekend and we look for signs of new life (I am also looking for hiding places for the Easter egg hunt). The look on her face as she sees the change from one walkabout to the next is so special....new life and renewed life through the eyes of a child ! In this same way, the wonder we have as Christians provide us the opportunity to renew our commitment to God and "rekindle" our love and appreciation for life.

Seeing the coming of spring through the eyes of a child is such a gift, and reminds us to stop and pay attention to so much beauty that surrounds us every day, but which we so often miss in our rushing around! What a privilege to get to share those special moments with your grandchildren, Frances, and a reminder of what we might notice when we are able to slow down and truly contemplate God's glory in nature!

Children are a beautiful blessing and gift. They have an uncanny bit of magic that gets us to be in the moment and gaze with them in wonder and curiosity at the world around us and the things that we may not always "see".
