The gift of time

Of course, I look forward to two weeks off - in a row! It's the only time of year that I take two weeks off, and it always goes by so quickly. But I recognize how fortunate I am to have those two weeks, and I'm thankful every year. For those weeks, I really gear down - less cleaning, less cooking, less planning, less preparation, and more of everything important (and some not-so-important things!) More time to read, to catch up with friends and family, more time to "putter", more time to "Netflix" and chill, more time to say "sure! yes!" and more time to say "no, maybe next time!"
But the number one thing that puts the light and sparkle into my holiday is spending time with my children, who are hardly children anymore at 23 and 25. I'm blessed to have children who are fun to be around and who still like being around me, LOL! And the conversations we will have! I'm anticipating that we will solve all the world's problems yet again, over wine and charcuterie, with good tunes in the background, and I will be humbled by their wisdom and perspectives. I'm also anticipating conversations that will leave me gasping for breath as we laugh until tears run down our cheeks. And I will treasure every minute and do the dishes later, because who knows what next Christmas might look like? :)
