Bradford Boundary Review
A new Catholic elementary school in Bradford West Gwillimbury is scheduled to open in September 2026. This means that the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDB) needs to adjust boundaries for St. Charles, St. Jean de Brebeuf, and St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic schools.
The Boundary Review Process will:
- Help us establish boundaries to populate the new school
- Balance enrolment and capacity in our other Bradford elementary schools
Staff and families from St. Charles, St. Jean de Brebeuf, and St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic schools are invited provide input into the boundary review process and recommendations.
Input is being accepted until Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
About Boundary Reviews
The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) establishes school catchment areas to serve students and families within defined geographic boundaries. These boundaries are developed through a comprehensive consultation process that includes input from key stakeholders within each school community.
Over time, factors such as population changes, evolving program needs, and new residential development may require adjustments to existing boundaries. Reviewing and, when necessary, updating school boundaries helps ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of schools, while continuing to support student achievement and well-being.
To respond to these changes, the Board conducts school boundary reviews on a regular basis. Boundary reviews are initiated by the Education Leadership Council based on recommendations outlined in a Boundary Review Report. They are lead by a Board Staff Committee. The process is guided by Policy GP-15: Governance and Planning – School Boundaries and Boundary Exemptions, which outlines the principles, roles, and steps involved.
