As hard as it is to believe, this is the second-last month of the 2024-25 school year! While the final bell might seem a long way off, it’s not that far away and June 26th will be here before you know it.

How have you grown as a person of faith or spirituality since last Labour Day? What are you looking forward to as summer beckons?

Kyle Tilley11 months ago Since last Labour Day, my faith has deepened through the meaningful experience of helping my colleague Sal Pisani lead a weekly Rosary Club at St. John Vianney Catholic School, which has strengthened my connection to community prayer and reflection. Additionally, my family and I continue to actively serve our parish by volunteering as Ushers and on the Altar Server team at St. John Vianney Church, nurturing a shared spiritual commitment that brings us closer together. As summer approaches, I’m looking forward with great anticipation to a refreshing vacation to Manitoba, a chance to rest, reconnect with nature, and return renewed in both spirit and purpose.

Donna Lorenz1 year ago There have been some big changes in my life since September - kid #1 flew more than half way around the world for an internship opportunity and has yet to come home, kid #2 landed his dream job and will fly from the nest probably permanently in mid-June, a significant relationship ended, my rainy day savings were wiped out by ice-storm clean up, etc. But despite this emotional roller coaster of life, I woke up each day, took a deep breath and was grateful that I could face another day. I recognized that while it could always be better, it could also always be worse! And without struggles along the way, we might stop appreciating when life is giving us lemonade. As for the summer, well, there are a lot of good books on the shelf just calling my name!

Tanya Bedard1 year ago Being so busy, I try my best to focus on the little things in life. Indeed I have a document on my phone called "Happy Little Things". Throughout the year, when I am present or when I reflect on things that make me feel calm, happy, joyous or other positive states, I write them down. For example, my list has things such as "enjoying a cup of coffee in the still and quiet of the morning", "hugging my daughter", "listening to my cat purr", "the dancing flames of a campfire", "chatting with my sister over the phone", "the feel of sunshine on my face", "the smell of fresh cut grass" and so on. Later on, when I am not having a good day, I can pull this list out and not only read the list, or parts of the list (it is a big one now), but go to those moments and feel all of those warm fuzzies and I feel better. This general focus on the little things in life truly adds up to something quite large over time. Therefore, this summer, that will be my focus and what I look forward to...little things.

Yvonne Stahlmann1 year ago Murray has been working with the Health & Wellness team (due to our request) to teach us about Christian Meditation, it's background, its history, when it can be used, and has guided us through some sessions. I know that I have found this very interesting and useful in times of high stress and it has been a great takeaway for me personally, and the Team to work on together, as a Team Building exercise. I will continue to use this great skill moving forward and have embedded it in my toolbox for beating stress in my life. Ma-ra-na-tha! Thanks Murray! You are such a great and wise resource for us all!
