Project Highlight
The Ministry of Education has encouraged SMCDSB to review the delivery of special education programs and services in our schools. This review will take a focused and thoughtful look at what’s working, where we’re facing challenges, and how we can better support both students and staff moving forward. We are looking to adapt to the growing and changing needs of our system in a way that honours our values and is sustainable for the long term.
We have engaged an independent third-party consultant to review the effectiveness and sustainability of the delivery of special education programs and services at SMCDSB.

Your feedback is critical to helping us understand what’s working well and where improvements or changes are needed in the delivery of our special education programs and services.
About this Survey
- The purpose of this survey is to gather your feedback on what is working well for our system and to identify areas for change or improvement.
- Your input will inform recommendations on how we might modernize our delivery of services to students with exceptionalities / special education needs to better support student outcomes
- All parents and caregivers have been invited to participate
- It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete
- It is available until June 27, 2025
- It is confidential. Other respondents cannot see your responses. All responses will be combined for reporting.
- The full report will be provided board leadership and to the third party completing the review of our special education program.
